The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary after the first Toy Story movie was released, establishing Pixar as a leading animation studio and introducing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (Tom Hanks) and the space ranger (the voice talent), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he grew up — getting a brand new plaything, one that alarms Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her initial digital gadget, and she is excited about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser avoids is what Woody is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a new adventure with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting giveaway items find good homes.
Surely, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the prior film. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip shows the insignia attached to her shirt.
Hopefully she is remains the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 debuts on the scheduled date.
